Warm Welcome Gulf Coast
We see them every day – the schoolteacher, the nurse, the firefighter. We trust them with our homes and businesses, our health, our children. What we may not see is the struggle they face daily to find a place to live. Hurricane Katrina wiped out much of the housing that our neighbors depend upon and can afford.
There is a solution out there, however. A way to create and restore the quality housing so that the teachers, nurses, casino workers and those we trust for our safety and security deserve – safe, high-quality housing that is indistinguishable from the single-family homes, apartments, and condominiums that we drive by daily. Affordable housing today is an asset to neighborhoods nationwide.
Over the years, the Mississippi Gulf Coast has welcomed people of varying cultures and socio-economic status. These residents have contributed greatly to the vibrancy and diversity of our communities. Hurricane Katrina struck a devastating blow to our housing stock and our way of life. Join us in doing what Mississippi does best – extending a warm welcome to all our neighbors – and demonstrate that hospitality is indeed more than just a slogan.
